Devamatha Hospital is the first NABH Safe-I accredited private sector hospital in Kerala and second private sector hospital in India. Safe-I means that "I am safe" and it seeks to address the importance of safety in injections, safety in infusion, infection control, health workers safety and safe biomedical waste management.

Deva Matha Hospital is the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream of the people of Koothattukulam for advanced medical care facilities especially in emergency situations. The hospital was established by the Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (SABS), to commemorate the Birth centenary of their Founder Mar Thomas Kurialacherry. The new hospital was solemnly blessed on 14th February 1975 by Rt.Rev.Dr. Sebastian Vayalil, the then Bishop of Palai, in the august presence of his eminent successor Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Pallickaparampil.
